An Exciting Day
Today was pretty fun. I went to Michele’s practice presentation at noon. I met with a computer engineering student who is touring looking at different grad schools. Seems like he’s a pretty good fit for UMBC. I hung out with him and Michele for part of the afternoon. We went to lunch and I got to learn some good stuff about applying to grad school. Michele is going to hopefully help me get in with Dr. Shaun Kane who graduated UW. He could quite potentially hook me up with some people from there to help me get into school. Hurray!
Michele also helped me feel a little more confident. It’s weird how natural parts of this whole process have felt, while other parts I completely lose faith. I’ve had to talk in front of lots of groups just giving a small introduction of myself. It’s nearly killed me everytime! You would think that I would be able to at least give factual information about who I am and what I do. Oh well…
We had our first All Hands Pad Meeting today. We went around the room and discussed what we have been working on and what we plan on working on this week. It’s a nice way to stay in touch with everyone. I have to work on speaking about my bits more because I do not do well speaking on the spot.
Tomorrow I am heading to DC. I’m volunteering to help with the e-voting at the NCIL Conference. I’m hopefully meeting with Germaine and possibly Shaun and going with them so I don’t have to try to take the metro by myself. Hope that works out. Should be a really great experience.
Going to zumba tonight. Experimenting by leaving my things under my desk while I’m gone. Don’t really want to take my laptop to zumba class. We’ll see how it goes.
