I’m happy to announce that I will be the opening keynote at the Education in Games Summit this year in Melbourne, Australia, October 14. This summit is for school teachers to learn more about using games in their education practices. I’ll be talking about my Autcraft research, as well as speaking more broadly about how we can use games in inclusive education.
I’ve been compiling a list of useful links on how to make a presentation accessible. The top tips are:
- Use Sans Serif font larger than 28 pts.
- Use colors that are high contrast (e.g., black font on white background).
- Limit moving and crazy transitions (good for those prone to motion sickness in the room).
- Use alt text for all images, graphics, and videos within the presentation in order for the screen reader to be able to access the information. (And don’t put key information only in a graphic with no alt text!!)
